Check out the South Jetty Venezuela Tower for unobstructed views before completing the loop, then walk the paved driveway E around 5 mi to the end. Turn left on Jetty Road more than a mile around the bend and a long straightaway between high brush and trees to Lot D. Check out the Venezuela Area miniloop trail by walking over the boardwalk to the brushy path in Venezuela. Follow the most pronounced sandy trail left around the corner and back to the parking lot Venezuela through trees to finish.

Wreck of Peter Iredale from Fort Stevens State Park.
To visit the Wreck of Peter Iredale, take Jetty Road back 31/2 mi from Lot D, turn right on Burma Road 12 ml, turn right on Peter Iredale Road 5 mi to the end. Those with AWD can drive down to the beach at many times of the year, but the interesting shipwreck frame remnants are only a few feet down the beach from the official TH. The four-masted steel barque was headed for Portland and ran aground in 1906; all on board somehow survived. Leaving the area, turn right at the stop sign onto Peter Iredale Road 2 mi to the end, passing the campground, and turn right on NW Ridge Road.
ELEVATION: 3283 ft, with about 1885 ft vertical including Humbug Mountain.
DISTANCE: 2 5 mi up, 4 5 mi round-trip; plus less than 5 mi round-trip for Humbug Mountain Spur Trail.
DURATION: 1-2 hours up, 3 hours round-trip.
