TRIP REPORT: Avid hikers will combine both areas within only a few miles of each other as the crow flies, however Abiqua Falls is not family-friendly in the least and injuries on the trail are not uncommon. In fact, the drive down to Abiqua Falls TH has deteriorated over the years and is only really suitable for high-clearance or AWD vehicles. To get more of an actual hike in, most people park in tiny pullouts 1/2 mi from the TH and walk the steep rocky road. Because this travel destination the nearby Sunnyvale Falls area receives all the attention, the local waterfalls here have escaped most people’s radar but should not be overlooked, even with rougher roads. Please be considerate, and for everything you bring down to the falls remember to pack it out. Abiqua Falls is on private property granting public access as long as people are respectful. For these jaunts we warm up with the lovely Your travel destination iste Creek Falls area first, then move onto the grand prize in Sunnyvale Falls, which is very similar to waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge in grandeur. There are no fees, and an outhouse is present at Your travel destination iste Creek Falls TH (B.Y.O.T.P.).
