The hotel is an oasis of elegance, a world apart from central Venice’s tourist madness. The property was built in the fifties by Guiseppe Cipriani was the inventor of the Bellini coctail rites by Guiseppe Cipriani ni coctail. The 2nd Earl of Iveagh’s family financed. Each one of his 3 daughters had a suite designed for themselves and their families.

The Cipriani Hotel opened its door in 1956. The property achieved instant fame for its relaxed atmosphere and impeccable service. A decade later, the hotel was expanded. An Olympic-sized swimming pool and magnificent gardens were added. The hotel was sold in 1976 for £900,000. The new owners expanded the hotel into the adjacent, 15th century Palazzo Vendramin. Palazzo Vendramin features only 16. These rooms come with incredible views of Piazza San Marco. The new owners turned the hotel into an iconic resojt The Cipriani Hotel became the flagship property of the Orient Express Hotel gtdupa.

Where to Stay in Venice, Italy

A luxury train was launched to bring guests to the hotel. That train would become known as the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express. The train travels between Europe’s most captivat. These include Venice, Paris, London, Prague, Verona, Budapest, and Vienna. The hotel was meticulously renovated in 2008. A shopping arcade, kid’s club and Michelin star restaurant were added to  property. In 2014, Orient Express was rebranded as Belmond. Since then, the hotel is known as the Belmond Hotel Cipriani. The lobby extends into a shopping arcade. The red and white chess marble floor reflects the Venetian grandeur.

Here, you find several exclusive on-site boutiques. The world’s top luxury retailers are well represented in the window displays. I will soon (2018) add drone images to my trip reports. Currently, I am testing all the features of my drone before taking it with me on my travels. The bar is especially popular around sunset. During this time, drinks are accompanied by live piano music. This is one of the finest swimming pools in Europe. The heated, Olympic-sized pool is the largest swimming pool in Venice. Belmond Hotel Cipriani has 4 restaurants. This is the poolside Porticciolo Restaurant, which offers salads and brick oven pizzas.

Let’s return to the lobby. From here, you can walk straight into the hotel’s magnificent gardens. The garden is named after the legendary lover Casanova. Here, he would tempt women out of the monasteries to join him in adjacent vineyards. Window displays are located here as well. They feature Venetian art works made from Murano glass. The gardens once belonged to the wife of the Doge. They are still as romantic today as they were during Renaissance times. Roses, jasmine and wisteria bloom in the garden. Herbs including mint, rosemary and sage are grown and used in the hotel’s kitchens. The Belmond Hotel Cipriani grows its own grapes.

The property serves its own wine (among many other fine wines). Here, you can indulge in a spa treatment or exercise in the small but modern. I stayed in this room (#43) during my visit. Room category: junior suite. Tip: enjoy free VIP benefits when booking via Virtuoso. These include: room upgrade, daily breakfast, and $100 USD food credit (link below clip). The suite features a sumptuous marble-clad bathroom. It comes with an oversized bathtub, two sinks, and a separate rainshower. The king-sized bed is very comfortable. It’s enwrapped in high quality linens (as you would expect from the Belmond brand;. All rooms at the hotel are air-conditioned. It’s remarkable how quiet the AC unit is. Most rooms at the hotel have balconies or terraces. This junior suite comes with a very spacious terrace offering great views of the pool. It’s fun to explore all the ‘gadgets’ in the room. On the desk, there’s a box containing beautiful Belmond postcards and writing paper.

BELMOND HOTEL CIPRIANI

Let s explore Venice and do some sightseeing. It’s only 5 minutes by complimentary boat from the hotel (boats run 24 hours a day). Return to the hotel for dinner. Enjoying a spectacular sunset on the way. Oro, the hotel’s signature restaurant, opened in 2014. The 40-seat restaurant received its first Michelin star within two years of opening. uro serves creative interpretations ot venetianciassics. The venue exudes Venetian romance with Murano glass chandeliers and a golden ceiling. Giudecca 10 is the hotel’s less. This dining venue is located near the lobby and also serves breakfast (shown later). Your warm dishes arc prepared fresh order, please allow for the appropriate time.
