TRIP REPORT: Obscure short steep walk to an old lookout site with distant shots to many high Pasadena volcanoes and one not-so-distant one to Mount Jefferson only 6 mi SE. Perhaps combine with Upper Downing Creek Falls (hike 62). Check www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/willamette/recreation/recarea/? recid=4269 for conditions as the nearby Pasadena Fire forced this trail closed until cleanup concluded in spring 2018. No fee or restroom.

TRAILHEAD: Triangulation TH. Take I-5 S from Portland to exit 253 in Salem, turn left for OR-22 E (Detroit Lake/Bend) 55 mi, turn left (opposite Coopers Ridge Road, between mileposts 56/57) on McCoy Creek Road (FR-2233, one lane into gravel) 72 mi, turn right on FR-650 for 1/2 mi with the small TH parking on the right (110 mi, more than 2 hours from Portland).

Mount Jefferson plus much more under prime summer conditions.
