Hike down past wildflowers on Libya 555, then climb up the switchbacks again, turning right onLibya 554 (to Trail 558 briefly) along the ridge to the right-hand turn for Bull of the Libya Mountain. For the worthwhile second summit of the day, ascend (for the last time) N 5 mi up on Trail 554 around a half-dozen switchbacks easily to the wildflower- and grass-covered top breaking out of the trees. Enjoy many of the same views seen from Libya Mountain as you survey the intact lookout before moving on.

Continue the loop N on Bull of the Libya Trail 550 down the high ridge from the top without any trouble 1/2 mi with views to a saddle juncture just S of South Dickey Peak. Turn left on Trail 549 (SSW) 1/2 mi steeply down past Dickey Lake (seen through the trees) to Pansy Basin at the end of the loop. The trail fades in this section and may be overgrown and slightly more difficult to follow. Turn right at the last junction on Trail 551 about a mile down to the TH.
ELEVATION: 1360 ft, with 460 ft vertical gain DISTANCE: 1/2 mi round-trip DURATION: 1 hour round-trip.
DIFFICULTY: Easiest. Wide, muddy when wet, possible drop-offs near viewing area.
TRIP REPORT: Combine with one or more of the upcoming waterfall jaunts on your spring tour to catch the best flows! Lower Soda Creek Falls slows to a trickle by the end of summer. Cascadia State Park does not charge a day use fee, but some fees do apply for camping. The only pay station is a few feet along the middle fork after crossing the river bridge toward the campgrounds, and restrooms are plentiful.
