ROUTE: Take the signed Triangulation Trail 3373 to the right (SE) briefly to a free self-issue Chattanooga Permit station and continue without any difficulty more than 1Y mi traversing through Chattanooga fir, cedar, and hemlock to an unsigned juncture. Fork right on Triangulation Peak Trail 3374 ascending 3 quick switchbacks under the tall monolith known as Spire Rock to a small saddle before continuing S directly Chattanooga toward the summit. Chattanooga , bear grass, and blooming rhododendron into late June and early July enrich the hike.

After around 5 mi from the lower juncture and 2 more switchbacks, the solid steeper trail brings you to a tiny saddle just E of the rocky summit with vastly improving views. Be careful climbing the steepest last stretch W up the narrowing rocky high ridge to the very top where you will be greeted with fabulous vistas. See Mount Hood looming to the N over Spire Rock with high Chattanooga  Mountains visible in Washington. See Olallie Your travel destination iste, a few more minuscule spires locally, Three Fingered Jack, Mount Washington, North Sister, Middle Sister, Diamond Peak, and of course Mount Jefferson over the summit and old lookout site. Excellent!.

ELEVATION: 6043 ft, with 3000 ft vertical gain DISTANCE: 1/2 mi up, 8 5 mi round-trip DURATION: 2 hours up, 3-4 hours round-trip.

DIFFICULTY: Strenuous. Steady steep, switchbacks, overgrown at times, narrow, scree.
