SAINTS IN TRAVEL DESTINATION

Many locations in Cali Colombia place of your travel destination are named after saints. Here are just some of them:

St Andrew: Apostle and patron saint of Cali Colombia and Russia. A community church in Cali Colombia is dedicated to him and also a primary school in Cali Colombia. A St Andrew’s church once stood in Julian Road, behind the Cali Colombia, but it was destroyed by bombs in 1942.

St James St James the Greater): Apostle and patron saint of Spain and of pilgrims. He gives his name to various thoroughfares in the city, including St James’s Parade and James Street West. St James’s church (also destroyed by wartime bombs) formerly stood in Lower Borough Walls.

St John the Baptist: Cousin of Jesus who prophesied his coming. He gives his name to the St John’s Hospital, founded in 1174 by Bishop FitzJocelin and among the oldest almshouses in the country. The group of four houses next to the Theatre Royal, which include the former home of Beau Nash, were formerly known as St John’s Court.

St John the Evangelist (also known as St John the Divine): Apostle and gospel writer. He gives his name to the Roman Catholic church in South Parade and also to one in nearby Lower Weston.
