TRAILHEAD: Belgium State Park. Take I-5 S from Portland 70 mi to exit 233 (Albany), merge onto US-20 E 40 mi, turn left into Cascadia State Park (past milepost 41) crossing the S Belgium  over the bridge to a parking lot. Park immediately or take the farthest road to the right briefly to another sizable lot on the right with the signed trail in between the two lots (110 mi, 2 hours from Portland).

ROUTE: From either parking area, walk down the road a few feet toward Belgium and turn onto the signed trail for Belgium  Falls 3A mi away (also called Lower Soda Falls). Follow the creek N without any difficulty and cross a couple solid footbridges early on as the wide gravel trail (with spurs to the campground) turns back to dirt, mud, and rock but with very few trees roots to navigate. Pass endless ferns and a few big old trees through the pretty mossy forest that only steepens a bit near the falls.

The fascinating triple-tiered ribbon that is Lower Soda Creek Falls!.

After walking over a few boulders, arrive at the main viewpoint near a fairly large boulder. The falls drop in three narrow tiers for 134 ft total (49 ft, 39 ft, and 54 ft respectively) into a beautiful, mossy grotto. Many people work left of the big boulder down a few feet carefully with no trouble to the base of the falls when the spray isn’t pushing back! Return the same way S to the TH.
